The Indoor Play Place My Kids Can’t Stop Talking About

By Daniel Reid

As a parent of three kids under 10, I’ve seen my fair share of indoor play places—mall playgrounds, trampoline parks, climbing gyms, inflatable empires. But none of them hit the same way Flying Squirrel does. It’s fun overload, in the best possible way. I decided to ask my kids what they thought of the attractions. The reviews? Hilarious, chaotic, and surprisingly honest.

Battlebeam
This is padded stick combat over a foam pit. The 10-year-old treated it like the final boss battle. The eight-year-old fell in before the match even started. “I fell on purpose,” he said. Sure you did.

Trampoline Dodgeball
It’s dodgeball. On trampolines. Which means it’s 10 times more chaotic and 100 times funnier. “This is the best because I hit you in the leg!” the 10-year-old bragged. I fell down dramatically at the time. He will never stop telling that story.

Dunk Hoops
Trampoline basketball turns all three kids into confident basketball players. The 10-year-old nailed a dunk once and shouted, “I DID IT.” The six-year-old airballed 12 times and still declared victory. No one corrected her. She was having a moment.

Extreme Traverse Climb
Think horizontal rock climbing over a padded wall. The eight-year-old took it very seriously. “That was scary but also fun,” he said. The 10-year-old cheered him on from the ground.

Freestyle Courts
This is where the real mayhem happens. Kids bouncing in every direction, spins, shouts of joy, and playful falls. “Watch this!” echoed every 30 seconds. “10 out of 10,” the eight-year-old said when he finally caught his breath.

Performance Trampoline Court
This is where the big jumps happen. The 10-year-old launched himself skyward on his first bounce and came down grinning. “That felt cool,” he said, already bouncing back up for more. The eight-year-old tried a trick, fell sideways, and laughed for a minute straight.

Rope Swing
Grab the rope, swing across, and hope for a smooth landing. The 10-year-old made it look easy. The six-year-old, on the other hand, let go instantly, dropped into the foam pit in a heap, and shouted, “I’m flying like a bird!” A very cute bird with zero control and absolutely no survival instincts, apparently.

Drey Cafe
At last, a brief moment of peace. The kids scarfed down fries like they'd been lost in the wilderness. I drank a hot coffee while they regrouped in silence. I tried to strike up a conversation but realized this was a time of rest. A rare and beautiful pause.

Slackline
Balancing over a foam pit—simple in theory, hilarious in practice. The eight-year-old made it a few steps. “I think I could make it a cross if I tried a few more times.” He didn’t, but only because he moved on to another attraction. The six-year-old laid in the pit and refused to get out because it was too comfy.

Stunt Jump Airbag
Full sprint, big leap, and the softest landing ever—it’s basically kid paradise. The 10-year-old launched himself into the air and somehow pulled off an actual flip. “I did a flip!” he yelled, stunned. I didn’t know he could do flips. He didn’t either. The look on his face when he landed said it all: part shock, part pride, all joy.

Arcade
This is where they go to cool off—if “cool off” means slapping buttons like wild raccoons. Racing games, prize claws, and flashing lights for days. “I’m gonna win a dinosaur!” the six-year-old yelled. She did not. But she did get candy. Everyone wins.

Aerial Silks
Cirque du Soleil, meet chaotic child energy. The kids loved wrapping themselves up and pretending to be performers. The six-year-old just spun in a circle and screamed with delight. Honestly? Nailed it. Her official review: “I was a twirly sky princess.” Pretty accurate actually!

Airbag Trampoline Launch Lanes
Pure launch mode: sprint, bounce, and soar into the giant airbag. The eight-year-old went for max distance. The 10-year-old landed a clean flip and walked away like a pro. His review? “That felt like slow-motion. I want to do it a hundred more times.”

Final Verdict?
Flying Squirrel delivers non-stop indoor play place fun from the moment you walk in to the moment you're herding exhausted kids back to the car. Every one of my kids found their favourite: the 10-year-old couldn't get enough of Battlebeam, the eight-year-old claimed the freestyle courts like his personal kingdom, and the six-year-old enthusiastically declared, “My favourite was everything.” By the time we pulled out of the parking lot, two of my kids were out cold—sweaty, happy, and completely played out. That’s the kind of outing we’ll be talking about for weeks.
