Winnipeg’s Best Indoor Play Place Reviewed by Real Kids

As a parent of three kids under 10, I’ve been to more indoor play places than I can count—trampoline parks, climbing gyms, inflatable obstacle zones, you name it. But Flying Squirrel stands out from the rest. With wall-to-wall activities and endless ways to burn off energy, it’s easily a top-tier pick for families. My kids tested out some of the key attractions and had plenty to say about each one. Here’s how it all stacked up—according to a very opinionated six-, eight-, and 10-year-old.

Battlebeam
A foam pit. A beam. Two padded sticks. Two brothers with a mild case of sibling rivalry? Endless drama. The 10-year-old took it very seriously. “I almost had him,” the eight-year-old muttered, mid-giggle.

Climbing Wall
My oldest is afraid of heights, so he opted to sit this one out. The eight-year-old made it halfway up but swore he reached the top—and honestly, from down below, it’s easy to see why. What looks manageable from the ground feels way taller once you're up there. The six-year-old declared she was “just looking” and spent her time enthusiastically waving from the safety of the floor. “That was fun,” my eight-year-old declared. He’s not lying: I know from experience.

Dunk Hoops
They saw the trampolines and hoops and immediately transformed into NBA hopefuls. The 10-year-old eventually nailed a dunk. The six-year-old missed every shot and still claimed victory. We support delusion in this house.

Freestyle Courts
The main event. Open trampolines in every direction. The kids ran wild—spins, failed tricks, exaggerated crashes. “Watch this!” was shouted at least 600 times. To be fair, at least 200 of those were coming from me.

Performance Trampoline Court
The advanced jumpers’ paradise. The 10-year-old took one look and said, “I’m going to do a flip and he did.” He spent most of the time perfecting a backflip that ended in a surprisingly graceful crash. “That was on purpose,” he assured us.

Drey Cafe
Snack time, finally. The kids inhaled their french fries while I sipped a coffee in peace. No small talk, no distractions, no bickering—just a silent, focused mission to refuel and return to chaos. If only all meals were this determined and peaceful.

Rope Swing
The test of bravery and grip strength. The 10-year-old nailed it. The six-year-old swung once and dropped like a giggling sack of potatoes. “I flew like a bird,” she beamed—leaving us a little worried about what she thinks birds actually do.

Slackline
Tightrope walking meets trampoline park. The eight-year-old gave it a solid effort and made it halfway. The six-year-old? She laid in the foam pit below like it was a spa. “I’m never leaving,” she said—and honestly, she meant it. I eventually had to climb in and physically remove her, one stubborn limb at a time.

Arcade
Time for a breather—but make it chaotic. Flashing lights, racing games, and button-mashing madness in every direction. The six-year-old shouted, “I won the game!” while slamming every button in sight. This Winnipeg arcade was the perfect cooldown before the next round of chaos.

Stunt Jump Airbag
Run. Jump. Soar. Land in the softest bag imaginable. It’s the kind of attraction even nervous kids can’t resist. “I did a flip!” the 10-year-old shouted—and shockingly, he wasn’t lying. Huge win.

Trampoline Dodgeball
Pure, beautiful chaos. Flying dodgeballs, shrieking laughter, and kids ricocheting off every surface like hypercharged popcorn. The 10-year-old nailed me in the leg and celebrated like he'd just won the Super Bowl. “That was the best part—because I hit Dad in the leg,” he beamed. Hard to argue with that.

Final Verdict?
Each of my kids found their own favourite—the foam pit, the dunk hoops, the freestyle court. They each had that one thing they wouldn’t stop talking about. Two of them passed out in the car on the way home, still clutching their socks. The third stayed awake just long enough to ask, “Can I go to Flying Squirrel for my birthday again this year?” That’s a win in my books.
