August 2024
Just an hour east of Toronto lies the vibrant city of Whitby, bursting with cultural activities, thrilling outdoor adventures, and engaging events. So grab your calendar and pencil in these events in Whitby so you can spend your summer enjoying all this fun city has to offer.
Here are the top five events in Whitby to add to your August calendar.
Is there anything more wholesome and summery than a magical movie night at the park?
This August, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Disney’s Wish are both slotted in for a showing at the sprawling Whitby Civic Park. Movies are shown on a large, outdoor screen with concert quality sound starting at dusk.
Share the joys of fresh summer produce with your kids at Whitby Farmers’ Market
A good farmers’ market makes the whole family happy. Luckily, Whitby Farmers’ Market happens twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays). With fresh baked goodies, local cider, live music, in-season cherries and berries and beautiful local bouquets, there is something for everyone. The joyful atmosphere and community vibes are just the (local) cherry on top.
Hike the most beautiful trails at Heber Down conservation area
Make sure you save some room in your August calendar to explore the stunning and vast trails in the Whitby area. Summer can be a busy time, but one of its best features is that nature is in full bloom. Don’t miss out on this incredible kid-friendly trail system. And don’t forget to visit the dog park while you’re there! It’s an activity in itself to watch all the cute pooches running, playing and having fun.
Yoga in the lavender fields at Lavender Blu farm
We spend the summer entertaining our kids and shepherding them from one activity to the next, so it’s important to also schedule in some time to rest and recharge. That’s where these relaxing yoga nights on a lavender farm come in. There’s nothing more calming and invigorating than a yoga class…unless, of course, that yoga class is a gentle sunrise or sunset class overlooking a beautiful lavender eco-farm.
Paint Night at Brock Street Brewery
Think of this opportunity to paint the most peaceful summer scene as the denouement of your August adventures. You’ll have some drinks, get messy and take home a creation that will keep you smiling and remind you of summer (even through the long winter months).
Beat the heat with indoor thrills at Flying Squirrel Whitby
No matter your age, make sure to carve out time for some high-flying fun at Flying Squirrel, the ultimate indoor adventure park. Perfect for burning off that extra summer energy, the park features trampolines, a climbing wall, battle beam, and more. Whether you want to unleash your inner child and join the action or simply kick back and watch the excitement, there’s something for everyone.
Whatever your hobbies, you’ll find something for you and your family to enjoy in Whitby. This city is small but mighty, and has plenty of entertaining events to consider—from trampoline nights to lazy Sunday exploring.
