Flying Squirrel: Best Indoor Play Place in Whitby (Kid-Tested)

When you’re six, eight, or ten, your standards for “fun” are sky-high—and very specific. So I figured, why not let my kids do the reviewing? We recently spent a full afternoon exploring every corner of Flying Squirrel Whitby, and I’ve compiled their unfiltered, totally honest, occasionally hilarious reactions. If you’re looking for the best indoor play place in Whitby, let this be your guide.
Aerial Silks
It’s basically Cirque du Soleil for kids. You hang, climb, wrap, and spin in long silky ribbons that dangle from the ceiling. It’s a surprising upper-body workout, but you wouldn’t know it from how gracefully the kids twirled. Even the six-year-old gave it a shot—though she mostly just swung and yelled, “I’m flying in my spaghetti.”
Airbag Trampoline Launch Lanes
Think runway meets trampoline. The kids took turns running and bouncing into the massive airbag at the end. My eight-year-old’s verdict: “It’s like jumping into a giant marshmallow that doesn’t eat you.” The joy of launching yourself full-speed into something soft never gets old.
Airtrack
It’s a long, bouncy tumbling mat that feels like a springy runway. My 10-year-old practiced tricks while the younger two used it as a place to run. “It’s like a trampoline that’s shaped like a road,” my six-year-old declared. Accurate.
Battlebeam
Two kids stand on a narrow beam, armed with padded batons, and try to knock each other off into the foam pit. I wasn’t sure if this would lead to tears, but it turns out even getting knocked off is fun. “This is the best fight I’ve ever had,” said my ten-year-old, smiling up from the foam.
Climbing Beanstalk
This climbing structure is as magical as it looks—colourful, safe, and super satisfying to scale. My two older kids were brave enough to give it a try. “Not as scary as a ferris wheel,” exclaimed my 10-year-old, who is terrified of ferris wheels.
Drey Cafe
The grown-up win. Coffee, snacks, and a bird’s-eye view of the chaos. While the kids refuelled with slushies and chips, I enjoyed five rare minutes of peace. “Yum,” someone probably exclaimed at some point between chews and clurps.
Dunk Hoops
Basketball meets bounce. With the added lift of a trampoline, the kids were suddenly capable of slam—or at least near-slam—dunks they’d only seen on YouTube. “I’m a basketball player!” yelled the six-year-old after flinging herself into the net—completely missing, but landing like a champ.
Freestyle Courts
These open trampoline areas were pure mayhem in the best way. Cartwheels, bum-bounces, epic sibling chases—this was where the kids spent the most time. “It’s like a floor made of jam,” my eight-year-old explained. “But for jumping, not eating.”
Arcade
After all that jumping, the kids needed a breather—and the arcade was the perfect pit stop. Bright lights, fun sounds, and rows of games to test their reflexes and luck. My 8-year-old proudly walked away with a handful of candy and a little dinosaur toy.
The games are simple enough for little ones to play but still exciting for older kids. And yes, they were all smiles—even when their tickets didn’t go as far as their dreams.
Inflatable Park
A giant bouncy castle times ten. This area had obstacles, slides, and a hilarious attempt at a race between all three kids. The six-year-old tripped halfway through, laughed hysterically, and rolled the rest of the way. “I think I won,” she said. “Because I rolled the fastest.”
Kiddie Inflatable Park
Perfect for the littlest jumpers. It’s a safe, enclosed space with smaller slides and soft climbing walls. My youngest stayed here the longest. “This is my jump house. Nobody take it,” she warned. Noted.
Performance Trampoline Court
This is where the real bounce happens. “This is like Olympic-level bounce,” my 10-year-old said. “I feel like I could go to space.” He didn’t. But close.
Rope Swing
Grab, swing, and land in a foam pit. It’s part Tarzan, part playground flashback. “I’m a monkey in the jungle!” yelled the six-year-old, just before letting go mid-swing and spinning wildly into the pit.
Slackline
A balancing act that’s way trickier than it looks. The kids were determined to walk across without falling. None of them made it. But the six-year-old did invent a new game: hanging off the line like a koala. “I’m a bear now,” he said.
Stunt Jump Airbag
Climb the platform, take a deep breath, and jump into a massive airbag. The ten-year-old called it a “brave” jump. The six-year-old just yelled, “BANANA!” as she leapt.
Final Verdict from the Critics
According to my pint-sized review team, Flying Squirrel Whitby is the best indoor play place. It kept three very different kids completely entertained for hours, and it left me with a bunch of happy, tired children. That’s a rare combo.
Bonus: They’ve already asked when we’re going back. So if you’re looking for a parent-approved, kid-tested spot to let loose indoors—this is it.
